The Green Olive is a family kitchen serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine across the Des Moines metro — the food we grew up on, made fresh every day and shared with our neighbors.
Cooked the way we were raised
Mediterranean cooking is about generosity — a table that keeps giving. That is the idea behind every plate at The Green Olive: charcoal-grilled kabobs, slow-turned shawarma, hand-rolled falafel, warm pita and bright, lemony salads.
We press and grill our own kafta, roll falafel to order, and build every platter over yellow rice with hummus, salad, garlic sauce and pita. The toum — that house garlic sauce — is made fresh, and it is the reason people keep coming back.
We open early for a Mediterranean breakfast and stay on through dinner, because good food should fit your whole day, not just one part of it.
